Ad Math Calculator

Type in whatever you know about a campaign and the rest fills itself in, with the formula under every number. Works with 50k, 1.2L and 2cr, and defaults to rupees.

✦ These are example numbers for a ₹50k campaign. Type over any of them, or clear them to start with yours.

Fill in any boxes you know; the rest work themselves out. You can type 50k, 1.2L, 2cr or 1,20,000.

Campaign numbers

What you spent and what came back. Copy these from Ads Manager.

Costs and rates

How efficient the ads were. You can also type a target here, like a CPC of ₹8, to see what it means for the rest.

Profit check (optional)

Revenue isn’t profit. Add your margin to see whether the ads actually made money.

How to use the Ad Math Calculator

  1. Pick your Currency at the top, then press Clear all to remove the example numbers for a ₹50k campaign.
  2. Under Campaign numbers, copy Spend, Impressions, Clicks, Conversions and Revenue from Ads Manager, filling only the boxes you know.
  3. Read Costs and rates: each box marked Worked out shows its formula with your own numbers filled in underneath.
  4. For a profit check, type your Margin to see Break-even ROAS, Profit after ads and whether the ads made or lost money.

Good to know

  • You can type 50k, 1.2L, 2cr or 1,20,000, and the tool reads them as numbers. It also works backwards: type a target CPC of ₹8 to see what that means for clicks.
  • If two of your numbers disagree, a warning shows what the box should be. Clear one of them and it will be worked out for you.
  • ROI here is (ROAS − 1) × 100, so it is based on revenue, not profit. Add your Margin to see whether the ads truly paid for themselves.
  • Compare CTR and CPC across ads in the same campaign and audience. Numbers swing a lot by industry, season and placement, so your own past campaigns are the fairest benchmark.
  • A low ROAS is not always the ad's fault. If CTR is healthy but CVR (Conversions ÷ Clicks × 100) is low, look at the landing page, price or checkout first.

Questions

How do you calculate CPM?

CPM is Spend ÷ Impressions × 1,000, the cost of showing your ad a thousand times. For example, ₹50,000 spent on 4,00,000 impressions gives a CPM of ₹125.

What is the formula for CPC, CTR and CPA?

CPC is Spend ÷ Clicks, CTR is Clicks ÷ Impressions × 100, and CPA is Spend ÷ Conversions. With ₹50,000 spent, 4,00,000 impressions, 6,000 clicks and 120 sales, CPC is about ₹8.33, CTR 1.5% and CPA about ₹417.

How do I calculate ROAS?

ROAS is Revenue ÷ Spend. ₹1,80,000 in sales from ₹50,000 of ads is a ROAS of 3.6x, meaning every ₹1 spent brought back ₹3.60 in revenue, before product and delivery costs.

What is break-even ROAS and how do I find it?

Break-even ROAS is 100 ÷ your margin in percent. With a 40% margin you need a ROAS of 2.5x just to cover the ad spend, so anything above that is profit and anything below loses money.

What is a good ROAS?

There is no single good number, because it depends on your margin. A ROAS above your break-even ROAS means the ads are making money. Type your Margin into the Profit check to see your own line.

Is this ad calculator free, and are my numbers private?

Yes, it is free with no login. All the maths happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server; your last numbers are simply remembered on this device for next time.
