UPSC Photo & Signature Resizer
Make your UPSC photo (20–200 KB) and signature image (20–100 KB) for the online application. UPSC wants your signature three times, one below the other, in a single image.

How to use the UPSC Photo & Signature Resizer
- Pick your exam, then choose what you are uploading: Photo, Signature or the other images that exam asks for.
- Press Choose your photo and pick a picture from your phone or computer. A photo taken against a plain wall works well.
- Drag the picture inside the frame and use Zoom so your face (or signature) fills it the way the form wants.
- Check the ticks: the exact size in pixels, a file size inside the allowed range, and JPG format.
- Press Download JPG and upload that file to the form. Repeat for the signature and any other images.
Good to know
- For the signature, sign three times down a plain white sheet in black ink, then photograph the whole block and frame all three here.
- UPSC’s portal has changed its photo rules between years (some years asked for your name and the date on the photo). Read the instructions on upsconline before you upload.
- Take the photo in daylight facing a window, against a plain white or light wall, with your face straight to the camera. Most forms reject shadows, caps and dark glasses.
- For a signature, sign in black or blue ink on plain white paper, photograph it from straight above and crop close. The tool turns the grey paper white so the ink stands out.
- Keep the original photo. If a form changes its rules, you can make a new file from it here in a few seconds.
- If a form gives a size in centimetres, the pixel size shown here is what that works out to for online upload.
- Some forms now take a live photo with your webcam instead of an upload. This tool can’t help with that step, but it still does the signature and other uploads.
Questions
What is the UPSC photo size in KB?
20 to 200 KB for the photo and 20 to 100 KB for the signature image, in JPG, per the 2026 notices.
Why does UPSC want my signature three times?
The notice asks for three signatures, one below the other, in one image. Sign them on white paper, photograph the sheet and frame all three in the Signature ×3 tab.
How do I resize my photo for an exam form?
Pick your exam here, add your photo, frame your face, and press Download JPG. The file comes out at the exact pixel size and inside the KB range that exam asks for, ready to upload.
How do I make my photo between 20 KB and 50 KB?
Pick an exam with that range (or choose Another form and type 20 and 50), add the photo and download. The tool picks the best quality that keeps the file inside the range.
Why is my signature under the minimum size?
A small, clean signature on white paper is very little data, so it can come out under a form’s minimum (often 10 KB). The tool tops the file up with empty space so it reaches the minimum; the picture itself doesn’t change.
Is it safe to use for my exam photo?
Yes. The photo never leaves your device: it is cropped and saved in your browser, with nothing uploaded, no sign-up and no watermark.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Open the page in your phone’s browser, tap Choose your photo, pick it from your gallery or take one, drag to frame it and download.
My exam isn’t listed. Can I still use it?
Yes. Choose Another form, type the width and height in pixels and the KB range from your notification, and add your photo.
