    Good to know

    • Photos from newer phones are often 3 to 8 MB. Under 1 MB they usually keep their full pixel size and look nearly the same.
    • Sending many photos by email? Compress them all here first and attach the ZIP, so the message stays under your provider’s attachment limit.
    • For very large PNG screenshots, try Save as WebP: they often drop far below 1 MB with no visible difference.
    • Quality 75 usually looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. Below about 70, photos turn a little softer, and below 55 visibly so.
    • For photos, WebP or JPG is far smaller than PNG. Keep PNG for logos, screenshots and graphics with see-through backgrounds.
    • If a photo cannot reach your limit at low quality, the tool also makes it smaller in pixels. If it still will not fit, it tells you.
    • Hidden photo details such as location, camera and date are removed, which is good for privacy before you post or send a picture.
    • Need an exact shape too, like 1080 × 1350 for Instagram? Resize first with the Image Resizer, then compress here.
